Annual herb with trailing stems up to c. 1 m long, widely cultivated as a garden plant and often used in salads. Leaves nearly circular, 3-15 cm in diameter, green to blue-green above, paler beneath, distinctly peltate with the petiole, 5-30 cm long, attached nearly in the centre of the lamina.
