Dioecious shrubs or trees. Leaves imparipinnate. Leaflets entire. Flowers (4-)5-merous, unisexual (but with little external difference between the sexes) borne in contracted panicles. Petals (4-)5, free. Staminal tube cup-shaped, filaments completely fused or ± so, without appendages; anthers usually 10, inserted on the rim of the staminal tube. Ovary 2-5(-6)-locular.
