Annual, biennial or perennial herbs. Stipules 0. Leaves alternate, entire to pinnatifid. Flowers in axils of often reduced leaves. Bracteoles 0. Hypanthium present. Sepals 4. Petals 4, yellow, white or purplish-rose. Stamens 8. Stigma deeply 4-lobed.
