Perennial herbs, Roots either swollen without tuber or ± wiry with distinct tubers. Pedicels mostly articulated, usually with more than 1 at each node, less often with 1 and then supported by 2 bracts. Flowers open, star-shaped, urceolate to ± campanulate.
