Herbs annual, to 40 cm tall, not drying black. Roots conical, slender. Stems usually single, branched throughout, with 4 lines of hairs. Basal leaves withering early. Stem leaves in whorls of (3 or)4, rarely opposite; petiole to 1 cm; leaf blade lanceolate-oblong, ca. 3 X 1 cm, both surfaces glabrous, pinnatisect; segments 10--13 pairs, linear-lanceolate, pinnatipartite, few toothed.
