Shrublets, shrubs or trees. Stipules present. Leaves alternate, simple, entire. Flowers bisexual or rarely unisexual, actinomorphic or zygomorphic. Sepals 5. Petals 5, equal or unequal. Stamens 5, all fertile or 2-3 fertile and with 2 staminodes. Ovary superior or semi-inferior. Fruit drupaceous, with 3 (often reduced to 2 or 1) ± separate mericarps, 1-2-seeded. © Mark Hyde, Bart Wursten and Petra Ballings (licence)
