Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves alternate, 3-5-lobed at least below. Capitula terminal on the branches (in ours), heterogamous, radiate; ray florets female, 1(-2)-seriate, rays longer than pappus; disk florets yellow, bisexual. Receptacle flat, naked.
