Floating Ferns

Free-floating aquatic plants. Rhizome slender, branched, roots absent or simple, borne singly or in fascicles. Leaves either dimorphic, borne in whorls of three (Salvinia) or alternate in 2 rows ( Azolla); veins free or anastomosing.
